First Iowa State Bank is located in Albia, IA., county seat of Monroe County, on the northeast corner of the city square. The original building was built in 1869 and housed a number of businesses until 1922 when it was completely gutted and rebuilt by the Iowa Trust and Savings Bank. The present bank was formed in 1930 and represented a consolidation of the Albia State Bank, Iowa Trust and Savings Bank, and First National Bank. First Iowa State Bank has provided continuous banking services to the Albia area.

First Iowa State Bank today includes five historic buildings with the original bank in the center. The bank building retains almost all of the original architectural details that were built in the structure. First Iowa State Bank combines beauty and warmth with growth and profitability in a competitive community banking environment. The furnishings and décor reflect the beauty and charm of the Victorian era. The artwork through the bank showcases many local artists as well as those more widely recognized. First Iowa State Bank is a tourism destination in Iowa and hosts many tours each year.

In 1973 a motor bank office was opened in Albia on Benton Ave East. It was completely remodeled in 2003 to reflect the Victorian theme of the historic Albia city square.

In 1987 First Iowa State Bank opened an office in Eddyville IA in a restored historic building on the main business street. The building and furnishings also reflect the Victorian décor of the main bank in Albia.

First Iowa State Bank is an independent community bank dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of financial services.
